Lessons were learnt and improvements made through the analysis and reporting of accidents and incidents. People were supported by sufficient staff who knew them well and who had undergone a robust recruitment process. People lived in an environment which was well maintained and clean, with safe infection and prevention measures. We reviewed information we had received about the service since the last inspection. We sought feedback from the local authority and professionals who work with the service. Led by manager Deborah, the attentive staff work with existing residents to welcome newcomers and make them feel instantly at home. Tickford Abbey also has great links with the local community, with regular visits from speakers and entertainers in addition to the home’s activities programme. Residents at Tickford Abbey enjoy the no-nonsense home cooked food that the generation has always sworn by. As with everything else in the home, resident feedback is essential to the menu planning ensuring that they are satisfied every day. The home is a lovely marriage of old and new of traditional and contemporary. From the outside, it is a majestic listed building with stunning grounds and gardens complete with pond and all-weather decking area. At our last inspection we recommended that the provider considered guidance on safe staffing levels in care homes and to take action to update their practice based on their consideration of the guidance. At this inspection we found the provider had acted on our recommendation and reviewed staffing numbers and had increased staffing reflective of people’s needs. People, a family member and staff were complimentary about the management of the service.
